Richard Schnap- A Poem

PHOTO ALBUM

First there’s the bright-eyed toddler
Beaming like a newly opened flower
Eager for his first taste of the world

Then the unsmiling youngster
Who’s learned that life is a journey
On a road rife with pitfalls and traps

Next the black and white teenager
Posed stiffly in a suit and tie
As if he’s found it best to play dead

And finally the matured adult
His face concealed by a mask
So he’s mistaken for somebody else
